FOLLOW PAULINE ROUND 4 - RIO DE JANEIRO

Changement de continent pour cette 5ème étape du World Tour féminin. Direction : Rio de Janeiro où l'engouement pour le surf est tel que Pauline ne cesse de signer des autographes !
Cette fois-ci, les 13 heures de décalage horaire se font sentir. La compète ne commençant pas tout de suite, les surfeuses et surfeurs en profitent pour se relaxer. Ils sont logés juste en face du spot, à Barra de Tijuca ,dans un somptueux hôtel. Au programme : piscine, training, et immersion dans la ville... Entre « pao de queijo »et « churrascaria » Pauline s'acclimate vite à la « cidade de deus ». Avec le reste du team Rip Curl, elle rend visite au Favela Surf Club, un moment riche en émotions.

Le Round 1 est lancé dans des conditions propres. Pauline se retrouve face à Steph Gilmore et Suelen Naraisa, la wildcard brésilienne, et termine 2ème, ce qui l'envoie au round 2. « Tous les heats sont difficiles », avoue-t-elle. Elle surfe ensuite contre la wildcard australienne Felicity Palmater et remporte son heat.

Après deux jours off passés à glaner à Rio, l'organisation décide de lancer l'intrégalité de la compétition féminine le dimanche, avant une potentielle tempête.
Pauline affronte Sally Fitzgebons et Sofia Mulanovich au round 3. Elle termine 2ème et se retrouve au round 4 de repêchage.

C'est contre Coco Ho qu'elle doit se battre pour une place en quart. Elle est menée pendant toute la durée de son heat, et prend une vague qui la positionne en tête juste à la fin. Coco prend elle aussi une bonne vague. L'attente du score est insoutenable pour Pauline qui sort finalement victorieuse. Elle se retrouve à nouveau contre Sally en quart et se fait battre de peu. Une 5ème place donc pour Pauline qui achève son séjour brésilien au sommet du Corcovado, heureuse de rentrer enfin chez elle après 4 mois de voyage et une beau tour du monde achevé.

A new continent for this 5th event of the ASP Women's Tour! This time, the girls landed in Rio where the population is probably the most passionate one they'll see this year. Pauline had never signed so many autographs!

The first Round had been launched with some clean conditions. Pauline ended 2nd of this heat, in which she was facing Steph Gilmore and Suelen Naraisa, the young Brazilian wildcard. "Every heat is very hard", declared Pauline just before her Round 2 against Felicity Palmateer. Fortunately, she managed to win over the Australian wildcard thanks to a solid performance.

After 2 days off, spent cruising in Rio, the event organizers decided to run the whole woman contest on Sunday before the arrival of a potential storm. During this long final day, Pauline surfed against Sally Fitzgibbons and Sofia Mulanovich in Round 3. With a former World Champion and the ASP ranking leader in the heat, the young French rookie strongly defended herself but ends 2nd and had to go to Round 4 for a second chance to get to the quarter finals.

Coco Ho, Pauline's opponent in Round 4, was controlling the heat. But on her last wave, Pauline managed to take the lead after a long wait for judges' marks. In quarter finals, she met Sally Fitzgibbons again.

Despite her good performance, Pauline is beaten by the future finalist and ends her Brazilian stay with an encouraging 5th place.
After a 4 month trip around the world, it's now time to go back to France.
